Harmonic distortions increase as more nonlinear loads are connected to the network, becoming the object of study. In order to maintain power quality, avoiding undesirable effects on installations such as overcurrent in capacitive banks or resonances, it is necessary to adapt the installation in order to comply with the recommendations of the standards. For this purpose, the filters installed in parallel to the loads have a low impedance path for these harmful frequencies. In addition to harmonic correction the filters meet the power factor correction. In this work we present characteristics and dimensioning of passive filters: tuned and damped especially of second order. With the data of an industrial plant, the effects of nonlinear loads were simulated and then applied the filters and developed a performance comparison, through a computer program, between three bypass filter installation configurations. To know: tuned filter application, second-order high pass filter application, and the association of the two filters together. In all conditions the recommendations of national and international standards were met. Correct sizing is not a guarantee of total attenuation of distortion effects and it is clear that the behavior of the plant changes when a new element is inserted in the circuit, thus promoting new distortions. It is important to note that each construction form has a different operating cost due to element losses. |
