Resumo: This work presents the development of the conceptual design of an inertial roller dynamometer designed for a Baja prototype. The purpose of the work is to develop a device capable of measuring the torque and power in the final part of the transmission system of the studied vehicle. The vehicle in question is developed by the Pato Baja extension project from UTFPR – PB and participates in SAE Brasil competitions. In this context, the work presents theoretical foundations of how the transmission system of this vehicle works, discusses the chosen dynamometer and evaluates mechanical concepts for the development of the equipment. The progression of this work is based on the management and product development method proposed by Rozenfeld (2006) and covering the conceptual design stage. Finally, as final considerations, it is believed that the results obtained were convincing due to the methods used being consolidated in similar mechanical projects. The safety factor for both the smallest and largest diameter shafts reached values above 298, thus ensuring the safety of the equipment and that the chosen material supports the system's efforts.
