Resumo: Women have been fighting for years for social equality and for more space in the labour market and in the field of entrepreneurship. But despite the great advances and achievements accomplished, there are still many challenges to be faced. This study aims to analyze the female entrepreneurship in the city of Pato Branco, Paraná, specifically in the urban region, identifying and mapping the women who undertake there and what are their business, the reasons that led them to undertake, and to understand what are the main challenges they face in this task, especially with regard to reconciling professional and personal life. To elaborate this study, a qualitative research was carried out through semi-structured interviews with 8 women entrepreneurs of the city. It’s added to these empirically collected data the bibliography pertinent to the subject, in order to provide theoretical means for the analysis. In this way, it was found that women from Pato Branco seek space for their creativity and freedom with the creation of an enterprise. A considerable amount of them work in selling women’s clothing and that, regardless of the maturity of their business, they point instability as something to be feared. In addition, most entrepreneurs rely on family support to reconcile their personal and professional lives and only one of them has posed the challenge of multiplicity of roles.
