The analysis of urban intersections is part of the traffic management routine, especially because they are critical points in the occurrence of traffic conflicts and congestion. In this work, a study is made of the intersection between Avenida Cristo Rei and Avenida Prefeito Guiomar de Jesus Lopes with Rua Bela Vista in the city of Francisco Beltrão (PR), a place where there is an intense traffic of motorized vehicles and pedestrians. Based on a 10-year future traffic projection, an analysis of two alternatives to the current intersection to be implemented to improve mobility and traffic safety at the site is presented. The two alternatives evaluated are the installation of traffic lights and the implementation of a roundabout. For the analysis, the Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) software was used, an open-source and open-access program that allows the complete modeling of the traffic system and obtaining performance parameters, such as waiting time, average speed and emissions. of pollutants. The results allowed to quantitatively analyze the traffic behavior for the different evaluated scenarios, which could contribute to decision making regarding interventions in the infrastructure. The roundabout proves to be the device with the best performance, especially in relation to the average waiting time and recovery of CO (carbon monoxide) and CO2 (carbon dioxide) pollutants, necessarily an improvement in the mobility of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. In addition, suggestions for improvement in signage are also presented. |
