Resumo: This work aims to show the main aspects of bioconstruction as a sustainable alternative to the building and construction industry. Therefore, it demonstrates, based on data, the environmental and social impacts of civil construction, which make the sector one of (if not the most) responsible for the pollution and excessive use of natural resources, causing serious threats to survival and welfare of the current and future generations. It presents the idea of sustainable development and international discussions on the subject, to place the civil construction industry as one of the fundamental actors for the consolidation of global sustainability goals. Then it introduces the concept of bioconstruction based on an understanding of permaculture, outlining its main principles and perspectives, as a constructive methodology that aims at the least possible impact on the planet, articulating ancient knowledge with modern technologies. From there, it presents the most used closure techniques, their materials, and main characteristics, as well as describes possibilities for treatment and saving water and other resources in the bioconstructive project. The work isn’t intended to exhaust the diversity of techniques, nor offer enough material for its practical application, but to present them in a more panoramic way to enable an introduction to the theme, aiming at further studies.
