Resumo: Civil construction is one of the main sectors of the national economy, and consequently one of the most competitive sectors, so the budgeting, planning and construction management phase becomes decisive for the placement of construction companies in the national market. Despite being a fundamental sector for the economy, the sector presents problems in its workforce, which is often unprepared. Civil construction has high levels of waste, and low productivity, this can be avoided with planning, optimization and management. Aiming to analyze through the implementation of a steel bars cutting plan, using the 1D-Nest one-dimensional cutting plan software, this work compared the steel waste considered in the budget carried out by a construction company at IETP – Guapipapéis, with the loss of steel when using the cutting plane for the same project. Thus, it was possible to verify a reduction in steel waste when using the one-dimensional cutting plane.
