The vehicle fleet grew considerably throughout the country, in the city of Pato Branco – PR, for example, the vehicle fleet increased by about 60% in the last 10 years. However, the infrastructure of cities rarely keeps pace with this growth. It is then up to traffic engineering to provide solutions considering mainly the aspects of fluidity, safety and accessibility. The study is an analysis of traffic light implementation (traffic light) in a point of great flow of vehicles in the city of Pato Branco – PR, and evaluates the current and future scenario based on annual growth rates of the vehicle fleet. All research and processing of collected data was carried out following the recommendations described in the manuals of responsible organs. The results showed that, despite the large volume of traffic, the current configuration of the intersection proved to be efficient, but future projections of increased traffic indicated an inability to accommodate the estimated future flow. The solution developed in this work allows a change in the study intersection, aiming to bring benefits to users of the place. |
