The industrial production in general can generate numerous environmental problems with its operation. Such factors may be due to inefficient management or lack of planning by those responsible. However, many times, the results of such variables can cause catastrophes. Given the above, the present work aims to gather elements to analyze how environmental impacts occur due to the nondecommissioning of assets, using as a study object the case of a mining industry that operated in the City of Adrianópolis, State of Paraná. The applied methodology was the bibliography with documentary support, which provided the capture of reliable information for the elaboration and development of the proposed analyzes. The chosen mining industry has operated for more than 50 years with the exploitation of lead. Such a company generated a significant amount of jobs in the city, playing a prominent role for local society. It turns out that the organization’s production process presented numerous problems harmful to the environment, in such a way that, even after the closure of the company, it continued to cause a considerable set of environmental impacts in the community. However, this whole situation reflects how the lack of knowledge and administrative negligence can cause irreparable problems for an organization and especially affecting its asset management. In this sense, the proposed discussion aims to analyze the case with a view to avoiding damages and assisting in the future development of this company through possible solutions through the application of asset decommissioning. Such activity demonstrates the potential to contribute to an efficient solution for the company, since the interruption of its activities would have occurred in a safe way for society, causing the structure of the factory, as well as, the equipment could be paralyzed or transferred, applying several actions for the recovery of degraded or contaminated areas and, consequently, minimizing impacts to the city and its population. However, decommissioning manages the life cycle of a product, not allowing equipment that is showing productive inefficiency with degrading emissions / environmental consequences, as in this case such equipment will be analyzed and replaced in a timely manner for the company, another important factor is the fact that the decommissioning process acts in cases of plant shutdown, then the decommissioning process will be to disable the area avoiding any environmental damage, thus reducing the chances of impact. |
