Resumo: Distributed generation has emerged in recent years as a technology capable of changing the structure of the energy sector around the world. Several policies regarding this issue have emerged in several countries, however, more recently, due to the rapid growth of distributed generation sources, the agents of the electricity system and regulations are going through a transition period. This transition has as its main objective the reduction of the economic impacts that this generation source has on the grid to which it is connected, as well as the advancement related to the measures to the reduction of the environmental impacts the current electrical system. This research is based on a literature review of scientific articles, national and international policies and regulations, and aims to the search of trends at the technical, economic and mainly in regulatory level regarding distributed generation. At the end of the research the main solutions were identified aiming at a greater integration of distributed generation in the electrical system, concluding that policies, regulation and the technological advances will play key roles in making these new energy sources more participative in power generation.
