Resumo: The research developed is aimed at analyzing the behavior of the physical properties of three basaltic rocks, from the municipalities of Foz do Iguaçu and Toledo, western Paraná. The lithotypes studied are solid gray basalt, solid basalt with clay minerals and solid pink basalt. The work examined how the physical indices of apparent density, porosity and water absorption change due to the influence of cyclical events of thermal variations, contact with saline solutions and freezing of water in the pores of the rock. In addition, the color and integrity of the rocks were examined. Changes in physical indexes could be noticed in all cycles. The thermal test temperatures and the number of ice-thaw cycles were insufficient for macroscopic identification of changes in the integrity of the rocks. In the sodium sulfate immersion test, the disintegration of the materials was quite evident.
