Resumo: Due to the need to minimize costs and optimize construction processes, several slab models have been developed over time in order to meet the current demand for project, which are increasingly sophisticated. The need to overcome large spans leads to thicker and heavier slabs, which causes a large consumption of concrete not only in the slab itself, but also in the other structural elements of the building, making the traditional solid slab solution uneconomic. In this scenario, slab systems with voids, such as ribbed and bubbledeck slabs present a solution to this high material expense, offering a slab with a lower concrete and steel consumption, maintaining satisfactory efficiency. This paper presentes a comparative study between the ribbed and bubbledeck slab systems, showing its main characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, in addition to a case study, dimensioning a ribbed and a bubbledeck slab, comparing the consumption of materials and characteristic efforts.
