Resumo: In Brazil in 2018, around 10% of the fabrics used by the textile segment ended up being wasted, generating around 170 thousand tons of waste this year. Of this amount, only 40% was used to manufacture other products, while 60% went to landfills and dumps. In view of this fact, the case study in question intends to analyze the economic and financial viability of an industry that uses textile industry waste for the production of strings, raising data on the financial indicators of this process and technically analyzing the physical characteristics of this string . This process transforms the scraps discarded by the clothing companies back into fibers, which then goes through the spinning process, generating the recycled string. that of the residue that gave rise to it. Thus, in addition to reducing the cost of water, the company reduces the environmental impact by reducing the consumption of this resource, in addition to not generating liquid waste from the dyeing process. The economic-financial feasibility analysis was carried out on a business plan spreadsheet in Excel software, developed by Sebrae, where, based on the financial indicators collected in a field research through contact with suppliers of the necessary raw materials, it was determined that whether the process is viable or not. For the technical analysis, five samples of string were tested, one of 100% cotton yarn, three 85% cotton manufactured in a conventional way and one of the product produced with textile waste. The test was carried out in the LabAna laboratory of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná- UTFPR, with the use of texturometer equipment, so that it is possible to compare the behavior of these specimens. From the results obtained by the financial analysis, it was verified that the project is viable, since the profit generated was 32.57% with a 13-month return on the initial investment. In addition, by carrying out the strength tests of the samples, it was found that the recycled string has physical characteristics very similar to the samples of conventional 85% cotton string, which indicates that the artisan who chooses to use this product will not be losing quality in the manufacture of your parts. Thus, with the development of this study, it was realized how profitable it can be the use of a waste that was previously destined for the environment, to generate revenue and, consequently, jobs, in addition to promoting sustainable development, thus preserving future generations.
