Polymers are macromolecules derived from the joining of many small molecule units, the monomers. A widely used and famous polymer is polyaniline (PAni). The present study aimed to evaluate the possibility of polymerizing aniline through the ozonation process without the need for an oxidizing agent or a codopant. To carry out the polymeric synthesis of aniline in an acidic medium through the ozonation process, the experimental tests were carried out in solutions with different pH values (2.00, 4.00 and 6.00) at three temperatures (4, 25 and 50 °C) with three ozonization times (30, 60 and 90 s), with a rest period of 4 days for the samples after the ozonization process. After these experiments, the best reaction pH was chosen, which was 2.00, the best ozonation time (90 s), minimum and maximum temperature of 4 and 50 °C, with a rest interval of 4 and 8 days. The samples were characterized by Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and gravimetry. Based on the TGA and DSC analyses, it was found that even with changes in temperature and rest times there was no change in the thermal analysis of the samples, showing that even with these changes the thermal resistance remained the same in the four chosen samples. With the FTIR analysis it was possible to observe the functional groups present in the samples through the stretch bands. The SEM analysis was used to analyze the morphological structure of the samples. From the characterizations carried out, it was possible to verify that the production of oxidized polyaniline in an acidic medium through the process of ozonation, has a great potential for application in solar cells, LEDs, anticorrosive coatings, among other numerous applications. |
