Resumo: This paper presents an access control system for electronic locks which is composed of a cloud server, a smartphone application and an offline embedded device. The server is responsible for granting access authorization to users by emitting tickets: data structures that are encrypted using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and can only be decrypted by the embedded device. The smartphone application makes users able to manage their locks by determining who is allowed to access each lock, while the embedded device has the function of activating the opening mechanism when an access attempt is permitted. Users can access a lock with Near Field Communication (NFC) using a smartphone or NFC tag, and are authorized by the data contained in the authorization tickets emitted by the server. The system created in this project allows the embedded devices to operate with no connectivity to the internet whatsoever, for only the smartphone connects directly to the cloud server. This paper also includes a description of the mechanical prototype used in the validation of the system and its integrability to products available in the market.
