Resumo: Aiming at a better understanding of the contents of radiation physics and modern physics, an educational object was developed to assist and intermediate this objective. The educational object was developed through a STS approach in order to integrate and contextualize the topics of science, technology and society in the context and daily life of students. The work was carried out with two groups of students from the 3rd year of high school during the Pedagogical Residency. At first, an investigation was carried out on the students' difficulties and curiosities regarding the use of radiation, and later a video lesson was developed covering the main topics mentioned. The video lesson was created using the radiological accident in Goiânia as a starting point. After the application of the video class, there was a proposal to answer a questionnaire about the topics covered. The answers were analyzed and based on them, there is a need to address this topic in greater depth and explore more adequately the topics of electromagnetism that will serve as a basis for understanding modern physics, more specifically, radiation physics.
