The objective of this work was to evaluate the relationship between the spectral index of vegetation quality (EVI2) and precipitation data with soybean production in the months of January between the years 2000 and 2017 in the municipality of Renascença, PR. The study area is located in the southwest of the state of Paraná. The climate is classified as Cfa (humid subtropical). In summer, it has temperatures above 22°C. The soil of the region is characterized as a typical Dystroferric Red Latosol, with a very clayey texture and smooth wavy relief. Soybean yield data for the first crop was acquired by Deral publications from 2005 to 2016. Data from a series of EVI2 images from January 2001 to January 2017, generated from data provided by MODIS and monthly accumulated rainfall data from TRMM. The observed data was organized and treated in Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheets. The relationships between EVI2 and rainfall in the study area were more significant for the years 2001 to 2017. The EVI2 indices showed irregular peaks throughout the time series, which are associated with rainfall variation in January. The values of the EVI2 indexes were above 0.60 most of the time, due to the accumulated rainfall in January. Periods of water deficit seen in some years, demonstrated by the water balance, show oscillations in the temporal profile of EVI2 throughout the study. Soybean crops where there were no periods of water deficit tend to have more continuous EVI2 profiles. There was a low relationship between EVI2 data and soybean yield. There is no relationship between the vegetative index and productivity. The highest soybean yields were observed when the EVI2 peaks were observed. |
