The increase in the Brazilian housing deficit has brought the need to seek new construction methods to meet this demand in an efficient and sustainable way. Thus, to replace the conventional masonry fence with ceramic blocks, the use of sandwich panels with an expanded polystyrene core, reinforced with electrowelded mesh and mortar coating is being studied; these panels, in turn, have a lower cost, better thermo acoustic performance, better productivity and energy efficiency. It was verified that, due to its sales time being much longer than conventional masonry, EPS is not economically viable for investors, but it can be a great option for applications in popular housing, financed by government entities, which do not only aim at profit, but also at social aspects related to the reduction of the housing deficit. |
