Women have been conquering more and more space in society, straining work relationships in the search for equality and due recognition. These transformations are also verified in rural areas. Given the importance of women's participation in work and income generation in rural areas, this work is justified. Women are generally seen as responsible for domestic activities and as helpers in relation to the role played by men. The southwest of Paraná is currently the first dairy basin in the state and the activity is present in many rural properties. Therefore, the objective of this work is to understand if the dairy activity has contributed to the role of women in the construction of their autonomy and recognition before their families. For this, a questionnaire was applied to 5 women who work in the dairy activity residing in the São Francisco da Bandeira community, in the interior of the municipality of Dois Vizinhos-PR. The questionnaire consisted of 27 questions, most of them objective and qualitative. The first 8 questions aimed at obtaining the characteristics of women and rural property, and the other 19 multiple-choice questions, which sought to cover women's performance in the family production unit, in society and their participation in managing the income generated on the property, especially in the dairy activity. Despite the empowerment of women farmers in recent decades and the significant role in dairy farming, it appears that the sexual division of tasks is still present and domestic tasks are activities performed almost exclusively by women. In addition, the income from dairy animals is hardly in the hands of women, as well as decision-making on ownership. Therefore, there is a need for public policies and projects that promote the demystification of female work, and enhance the role of women not only in the dairy activity, but in rural development as a whole. These changes can even positively contribute to the succession process of the family unit. |
