Resumo: The electrical potential at the ground surface is a parameter of great relevance in grounding grids projects as it is directly linked to the safety of operators close to the grid. Operators near the grid are exposed to dangerous voltages due to the electrical potential induced by the grid at the ground surface. The objective of this work is to analyze through a computational method the potential on the soil surface due to a current in a grounding grid. For this, an program that allows an analysis for different types of grids and soils was implemented in MATLAB program. International and national standards ANSI-IEEE Std. 80-2013/ NBR 15751-2013 establish limits for maximum permissible voltages close to the grids and present a simplified method for calculating such voltages. In this work, the potential on the soil surface in the vicinity of the grids is calculated through the developed algorithm, in different types of grids and soils, and compared to the simplified method presented in the standards.
