The present study aimed to analyze the socio-environmental consequences of the burnings of the year 2020 in the Pantanal Biome and in the life of the local population, contemplating the main areas that had fire outbreaks, in the surroundings of Cuiabá-MT, brings as research the reports, challenges and socio-environmental consequences of the worst fire in the biome's history. Presenting and analyzing the testimonies of traditional peoples of the region, collected from October 27th to November 5th, in a qualitative way in the form of unstructured interviews, which included nine participants of different ages and genders, supported by photographic records and observation the field. This research listed the consequences of these fires with the lack of public policies and unpreparedness of the community for such a situation, and also provides a way to contribute to the awakening of new strategies, using Environmental Education as a tool for recovery and training of the community, as well as critical thinking about anthropic actions and the results that can guide conservation. It is expected that through the data disclosed here, the importance of protecting our environment and the local culture that each region has is highlighted. O ano de 2020 foi marcado por intensas queimadas no bioma Pantanal que resultaram em uma perda territorial significativa para o Complexo, bem como sua fauna e flora, além de afetar diretamente a comunidade local. O presente estudo buscou como objetivo analisar os reflexos socioambientais das queimadas do ano de 2020 no Bioma Pantanal e na vida da população local, contemplando as principais áreas que obtiveram focos de incêndio, aos arredores de Cuiabá-MT, traz como pesquisa os relatos, desafios e consequências socioambientais da pior queimada da história do bioma. Apresentando e analisando os depoimentos dos povos tradicionais da região, coletados do dia 27 de outubro ao dia 5 de novembro, de maneira qualitativa em forma de entrevistas não estruturadas, que contou com nove participantes de diferentes idades e sexos, respaldando nos registros fotográficos e observação a campo. A presente pesquisa elencou as consequências desses incêndios com a falta de políticas públicas e despreparo da comunidade para tal situação, e ainda, traz uma maneira de contribuir para o despertar de novas estratégias, utilizando da Educação Ambiental como ferramenta de recuperação e capacitação da comunidade, bem como um pensar crítico a respeito das ações antrópicas e dos resultados que possam nortear par a conservação.
