Resumo: Globalization, competition and increasingly fierce competition make companies need to update themselves and seek alternatives to meet the great demand of the market, in order to survive in the face of large competitors. This work aims to analyze and propose improvements in the production flow of a production line of a metallurgical company, which needs to reduce production costs, increase productivity and processing time of the production line studied, because it is a crucial part of the company's revenue. For this, the concepts and tools of lean manufacturing were applied in the company, mainly the development of Value Stream Mapping for the studied production line. As a lean production tool that allows companies to visualize their waste and seek improvements in the value stream, the application of Value Stream Mapping is based on exploratory research in the form of a case study. For this, it was necessary to develop a map of the current state of the production line, where it was possible to highlight the points of failure and identify opportunities for improvement, so that proposals could then be suggested, such as the possibility of reducing processing times, reducing errors caused by human error and reduction of other waste. The application of the improvement proposal can generate positive results, improving the organization of processes and improvements in times, where specifically in the highlighted process it is possible to extract an improvement in efficiency in the execution of the same, due to the fact of having a standardization and execution of the tasks, highlighting other possibilities for improvement, which the company under study is in charge of applying and possibly extending to other processes and product family.
