Resumo: The control of domestic animals is extremely important for public health and animal welfare. Therefore, the Support Center for the Control of Zoonoses and Animal Welfare has contributed, through public measures, to the population control of dogs and cats, in addition to the diseases transmitted by them. Implemented in 2019 in the city of Francisco Beltrão-PR, many people are not aware of this body. This work clarifies issues such as abandonment, abuse and denunciations, in addition to the importance of castration and vaccination, so that, as well as controlling the overpopulation of animals and the proliferation of diseases. Through the analysis of care protocols, 1820 animals were consulted in 3 years since the implementation of the Support Center for the Control of Zoonoses and Animal Welfare, 46 animals with Canine Distemper, 75 with Parvovirus, 30 with Sarcoptic Mange and 28 with Fiv or FeLV. It was later disseminated through the creation of an awareness portfolio on subjects such as: responsible ownership of an animal, care to be taken and services provided by the Support Center for the Control of Zoonoses and Animal Welfare. Which provides assistance to low-income population and homeless animals. The portfolio was published online on the city hall's website, so that the population can learn about the public agency, in addition to providing guidance on animal welfare issues and diseases that affect dogs and cats and that can be avoided through vaccination, if becoming a public health problem when not taken care of.
