The advent of modernity and industrialization brought about important changes in both institutions. Education has become a citizen's right and ty of the State. The family in turn directed its task of educating their children to school and the school began to educate and teach at the same time. Collaboration between both institutions became confused and fraught with mutual demands. The COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent suspension of face-to-face classes required the school and the family to reorganize their activities and collaborate in carrying out their children's educational activities. Thus, this research aimed to better understand how the relationship between family and school occurred in the context of the pandemic, pointing out the factors that interfered in the proximity and those that led to the distance in the relationship between both institutions, as well as understanding the main difficulties that families faced with their children during this period of social isolation. The research was developed through a questionnaire with the families of students who are enrolled in elementary school I, more precisely with students in the first and fifth year, from Escola Municipal Tia Anastácia, in the municipality of Dois Vizinhos, State of Paraná. Therefore, the research is qualitative research, in which the results can evidence the dynamics of the relationship between the school and the family, being able to come as a point of support in the construction of new initiatives in the development of a cooperative relationship between both institutions. A escola e a família são instituições fundamentais no processo de formação dos filhos. O advento da modernidade e da industrialização provocaram mudanças importantes em ambas as instituições. A educação tornou-se um direito do cidadão e um dever do Estado. A família por sua vez direcionou a sua tarefa de educar os filhos para a escola e a escola passou a educar e ensinar ao mesmo tempo. A colaboração entre ambas as instituições ficou confusa e carregada de cobranças mútuas. A pandemia da COVID 19 e a consequente suspensão de aulas presenciais exigiu que a escola e a família reorganizassem suas atividades e colaborassem no cumprimento das atividades educativas dos filhos. Assim, esta pesquisa teve por objetivo, conhecer melhor como ocorreu a relação entre família e escola no contexto da pandemia, apontando os fatores que interferiram na proximidade e os que conduziram ao distanciamento na relação entre ambas as instituições, bem como, entender as principais dificuldades que as famílias enfrentaram com seus filhos durante esse período de isolamento social. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida por meio de questionário com as famílias dos alunos que encontram-se matriculados no ensino fundamental I, mais precisamente com os alunos do primeiro e quinto ano, da Escola Municipal Tia Anastácia, do município de Dois Vizinhos, Estado do Paraná.
