Resumo: The purpose of this workwas to address socio­environmental responsibility in education, in order to clarify the purpose of elucidating whether it can also embrace the cause of the environment through its educational methods applied in school institutions. The main objective perpetrated here is to analyze education in a context of social co­responsibility and transforming agent for sustainability. As a secondary objective, we sought to find out how education converges its efforts on the topic of socio­environmental responsibility within the school. For the development of the work, bibliographic research was chosen, which enabled the understanding that education has its facet of socio­environmental responsibility and, precisely for that reason, it must, through the school, contribute so that the awareness about this responsibility is awakened in society.
