Resumo: The present work aims to understand how cartoons are used as a resource for teaching history in a didactic collection of books distributed in the year 2015. For it, it was assumed that the cartoons are used as historical sources and are forwarded as such in this material. To answer this hypothesis, we started first from the framework, to understand what these resources are and their possible uses in the classroom on the history discipline. It is worth noting that initially the cartoons are typologies of verbal and non-verbal textual genre whose purpose is to transpose the content through exaggeration, criticism and the author's intentionality. With regard to history, this element comprehends as a source that allows the identification of reactions in the face of some conjecture that permeated the reality of the author of the cartoon thus being able to understand the list of sources. The methodology in this sense corresponded to bibliographic research, to delimit the uses of cartoons in the reference science to then analyze the ways in which they are used in textbooks.
