Resumo: This work presents an approach comparing a pre-existing low-carbon metal truss structure with this structure after the resizing process, mainly aiming at reducing material costs, given the high competition in this sector. A relevant factor taken into consideration was the safety of the project, always seeking for feasibility. A structure located in the city of Pato Branco was analyzed, through the application of energy methods, calculation of the node’s displacements, determination of strains and stresses of the bars, adoption of resistance criteria. With that, the structure`s components were resizing in order to optimize it. In the end, it was found that a cost reduction of up to 61% is possible, that is, an expressive and decisive value for the contracting of a future project.
