Resumo: In 2019, the state of Paraná became the second largest production hub of motor vehicles, since the automotive industry aims to constantly increase its production capacity, which is possible thanks to the constant evolution of innovative technologies aimed at meeting the increase in demand trade and reduced production costs. Resulting in the consumption of more material and human resources, an example of the first is water, which is present throughout the physical installation, being necessary both for the production process and for the use of its employees, but this resource is limited and the scarcity of potable water reservoirs is imminent, which can become a limiting factor and a bottleneck for increased production. From this, the objective of this study was to present a reduction in the consumption of drinking water in this industrial sector, considering its exchange for the use of rainwater, which is already mandatory by the current legislation for new constructions, which must consider systems of collections and use in sanitary installations. For this purpose, some companies already adopt measures to reduce the consumption of drinking water, however certain activities of the daily life of the industries still consume this water, which is noble and therefore should not be used for activities that do not involve human consumption and that do not is required by industrial equipment, such as vehicle washing, cleaning of environments and sanitary facilities. In order to do só, we proceeded to determine a process of capturing rainwater, through the surfaces of the roofs and driving through horizontal gutters and vertical conductors to storage in a reservoir leading to the places and points where its use is possible, being dimensioned through the calculation methods that aim at the monthly demand, accumulated rainfall index and the available catchment surface. Based on the rainfall in the region close to Curitiba, in the state of Paraná, it was possible to point out the theoretical availability of rainfall in the region, in which it rains on average 127 mm per month during the year, and to design a reservoir consistent with the place of consumption. Demonstrating its economic viability, having its monitoring according to the legislation. Demonstrating through calculations that this amount meets the demand with a financial return of less than 10 years, which made it possible to use rainwater.
