Resumo: There is an acceptable fineness module zone for receiving the aggregates in the concrete batching units, for the natural fine aggregate, which is in the range of 1.6 to 1.2, which may vary in each company. Knowing this, the present work sought to analyze the impact that the variation of the fineness modulus (within the acceptable zone from 1.6 to 1.2, varying every 0.1). Sample compositions were produced by varying their granulometric composition, with the objective of verifying the impact in the tests of axial compressive strength and diametral tensile strength. It was verified that with the decrease in the fineness modulus there is an increase in the compressive strength, however statistically (by the TUKEY test) 3 groups can be formed, fineness modulus 1.6 and 1.5; fineness modulus 1.4; fineness modulus 1.3 and 1.2. Comparing the fineness modulus of 1.6 with 1.2, a reduction of 10.70% in the compressive strength was obtained and there was also an increase of 86.13% in the content of trapped air, but in the tensile test the data were, statistically equal, since there was no difference between samples with different fineness modulus.
