Resumo: Child restraint systems contribute to increasing the safety of children in vehicle traffic. With the advancement of technology within automobiles, a common item is the seat belt reminder, through which the car’s system notifies the driver if any passengers or the driver themselves are unbuckled while the car is in motion. However, this warning does not cover the belts of child restraint systems. To reduce the risk of death and injury, this work proposes a monitoring system for child safety seat belts. This equipment must detect the presence of the child, if the vehicle is moving and if the device’s belt is buckled. The system triggers an alarm, alerting the driver that the child is not safe. The device is designed to be mobile, powered by a battery and can accompany the restraint systems in any vehicle. In addition, the battery can be charged using a regular cell phone charger. The components are designed to consume little energy during operation, thus extending battery life between charges. In this way, the objective of designing a monitoring system for child safety seat belt was fulfilled. For future work, it is suggested to make the device and test it under real conditions of use.
