Resumo: Chives are a widely appreciated and important aliments in the food agroindustry, which is generally grown in conventional systems and has been adapted for hydroponic crops. One of the biggest problems in a hydroponic crop is adjusting the nutrient solution that meets the nutritional needs of plants. The objective of this work was to evaluate the development and accumulation of chives biomass (Allium fistulosum L.), submitted to different concentrations of magnesium sulphate in hydroponic cultivation. The cultivar used was "All Year". The experiment was carried out in the hydroponic system NFT (Nutrient film technique), located in the sector of olericultura of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - UTFPR - Câmpus Dois Vizinhos. In the period from March to April 2018, in an are protected environment, covered with 150 micron plastic film and 50% shading red screen. The experimental design was a completely randomized design (DIC), with four treatments and five replications, where each workbench received a treatment, with the edge profiles being disregarded, and each profile represented a repetition with 15 plants. The treatments tested were: T1 - control (original composition of the solution), T2 - 5%, T3 - 10% and 14 - 15% more of magnesium sulphate) of the original solution proposed by Furlani. The variables analyzed were percentage of leaf tipping, leaf length, SPAD index, fresh mass and shoot dry mass and leaf and root nutrient content. The results showed that the increase in magnesium sulphate concentration contributed to reduce foliar tipping and, therefore, had a positive influence on chives development. This effect was observed mainly in the highest concentration evaluated (15%). The macro and micronutrients contents of the leaf and root did not present any significant difference between the treatments.
