The little dissemination of technical information about the production and construction process of wood leads society to opt for construction in concrete or steel, generating a cultural issue of limitation in relation to its use in civil construction. The present work brings an extensive bibliographic review on some important aspects of material technology, such as: wood identification, deterioration by biodeteriorating agents, natural durability of wood, how the process occurs and the main drying methods, main preservative products, main methods of treatment and construction techniques that protect the wood. The aim is precisely to bring this knowledge closer to professionals in the area, especially those involved with civil construction. In addition, it also brings a case study that applies the theory exposed, in order to diagnose the current production situation and indicate ways of controlling the quality of the raw material by those who acquire/use it, such as engineers and/or builders. The result was satisfactory, since although the company under study provides high quality products to the market, some aspects were identified that can be improved, bringing even more technical confidence to the products marketed and safety for the professionals who use them. |
