The modern industry's search for lighter and more resistant materials encourages engineering areas to create new materials. A new class of materials then emerges, called high-strength, low-alloy steels. A member of this new class is the DOMEX 700 steel, which shows great potential for its applications, however it is susceptible to phenomena such as the material wear. Thus, the objective of this work was to study the behavior of steel through a tribological and factorial analysis. The steel interaction was analyzed through load variability, frequency and length in two levels proportional to each other and in a standard order. The result in the analyzed range observed that for the wear rate, the increase in frequency had a greater influence on the wear of the DOMEX 700. However, when analyzing the depth and width of wear, to obtain a greater area and volume of wear, there must be a combination between applied load and frequency. It was also noted that by increasing the sliding length there was a tendency to reduce the wear volume. Interactions in the tribosystem in relation to load and frequency can impact the mechanism and wear temperature, which may cause changes in the coefficient of friction. The study obtained significant results and test parameters that allow a better characterization of the DOMEX 700 steel. |
