In the food industry, especially the meat industry, the generation of animal waste is one of the main concerns. It is estimated that more than half of the mass of the slaughtered animal becomes tailings. In view of this, the animal recycling industry gained prominence, employing technological equipment, automating processes and obtaining globally recognized certifications. Studies show that virtually all animal waste can be reused. Fats, gelatins and flours are examples of products obtained by recycling. In obtaining flours, one of the steps requires the cooling of cola water, a multiphase fluid that contains protein, fats and water. In this sense, adequate cooling, minimizing the risks of contamination inherent in this industry, the design of heat exchangers (HE) are essential. A proper design of a HE, satisfying process requirements, in addition to guaranteeing the operation of the industry, can minimize costs. Thus, the present work consists of the design of a double tube HE (DPHE), using the concepts of machine design methodology and, focusing on thermal and fluid dynamics analyses. In view of this proposal, the study aims to present the main stages of product design, from problem identification, to obtaining the layout and detailing the production procedures. To apply the machinery design methodology, a case study of an animal recycling line was presented. From mathematical models and expertise in the area, a DPHE was developed presenting all the necessary considerations during the design phase. Note that during the project, some limitations were encountered. Among them, we mention the need for multidisciplinary teams, commercial and technical restrictions, among others. It is concluded that the use of machine design methodologies guarantees a structured planning of all activities throughout the project. |
