Resumo: The study of transport phenomena in porous media has gained considerable attention in recent decades due to its relevance in a wide range of engineering applications. The study of natural convection in porous media plays a very important role in improving oil extraction. The equations that govern the physical phenomenon of natural convective heat transfer are coupled partial differentials with the variables velocity and temperature. These equations have no analytical solution and, in this work, numerical solutions will be obtained. These solutions will be validated to ensure that the results obtained are correct and the validation is performed by comparing numerical results obtained by other authors, finding results with relative error below 3%. The mesh refinement used in the simulations was determined using a case considered computationally extreme. These results of the numerical simulations are expressed through the parameters of average Nusselt number in the heated wall and isotherms inside the cavity. With increasing Rayleight number an increase in the mean Nusselt number along the heated wall was observed.
