The objective of this study was to identify the presence of Fractal Geometry in published studies from different areas of medicine. To this end, the methodology used was qualitative, where initially medical specialties were selected, which used imaging exams in their diagnosis. Thus, the fields chosen were oncology, neurology, and angiology. In this context, works published between January 2021 and June 2022 were selected from the Google Scholar platform. Three works on oncology, three on neurology, and none on angiology were found to be compatible with the objective of this research. As a result of the studies of the six papers analyzed, it was noticed the recurrence of the use of the Box-Counting method to describe irregularities present in human anatomy, especially using the ImageJ software as a resource, highlighting the incidence of different types of imaging exams. Finally, it was possible to conclude that Fractal Geometry is the only geometry capable of studying, finding and formalizing patterns in shapes considered as anomalies. |
