Resumo: Concrete is a material that has a wide use, in view of this, the use of alternative materials in its composition is an opportunity to improve the properties of concrete and, in some cases, the destination of materials that would be discarded, an example is the steel chip, which is a material with a high power of pollution to the environment and its possible use in concrete, reduces the effects caused by it in the environment. From this, this work had as a premise the comparison of the dimensioning of an industrial floor with the addition of steel chip in arc and steel chip in tubular replacing steel fiber, based on the physical and mechanical properties obtained through laboratory tests, and also evaluate the feasibility of using this material in concrete and thus investigate a new destination aimed at sustainability by reducing its aggression to the environment. The analysis of the physical and mechanical properties of the concrete was carried out based on the slump test, the compressive strength and the tensile strength in bending, obtaining a reduction in the workability of the concrete with the use of tubular steel chips, while the arched steel chips obtained significantly higher workability compared to steel fiber. Regarding the compressive strength, it obtained an increase in this resistance with the use of both types of steel chips in comparison with the steel fiber, while for the tensile strength in bending, the arched steel chip did not behave as a fibrous material in the concrete not presenting residual resistance from this test, on the other hand, the tubular steel chip acted as a fibrous material in the concrete and had residual resistance, but this resistance was relatively lower than the concrete with the addition of steel fibers. From these results, an industrial floor was designed with the use of concrete reinforced with steel fibers and tubular steel chips, thus obtaining that the use of tubular steel chips reduced the thickness of the industrial floor, and increased the spacing between the expansion joints compared to design using steel fiber concrete.
