Bamboo has excellent physical and mechanical properties from an engineering point of view, as well as several advantages such as easy handling, accelerated growth, low specific weight as well as high mechanical resistance. This research aims to analyze the feasibility of joining bamboo and concrete as a sustainable structural system for civil construction. The present work presents and compares the mechanical properties of Bambusa tuldoides bamboo, typical of the region of Guarapuava-PR, known as Bambu Taquara. The specimens were tested in traction in flexion on the beams and compression test on the material itself, studying its mechanical characteristics. The results indicate that the assembly of the bamboo frame with stirrups for a better stability of the beam with the annealed steel consequently increased the adhesion between the bamboo and the concrete and that the studied material has good results formechanical properties, thus indicating a potential in the use of it, but for this to occur effectively more research is needed around bamboo as a structural material. |
