Resumo: The goal of this project was to build a low power consumption device that could document, by photographs, wildlife species and habitats. As the camera trap was designed to remain in remote locations for long periods of time, a connection to a remote network was essential to enable the device to send all the collected data to a remote server. In order to build this equipment a GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) modem was used along with a camera, providing connection to a mobile network and a manner of taking photographs. Besides those resources, a microcontroller was also used to integrate the parts of the system. The pictures and data collected were sent to a website where the user could see and manage the received data. Thus, as the camera trap has an internet connection it can be defned as an IoT (Internet of Things) device.
