Resumo: Studies that analyzed the bibliographic productions in animal science are relatively new and have become more common.. The scientometrics and the systematic review allow to map the animal science areas that need more studies, the countries, the institutions, the interest areas, in addition to allow more assertive conclusions among the studies. The heat stress is a problem increasingly prominent in dairy farms and it comes bringing negative impacts for the entire dairy sector.. Thus, multiple studies have investigated the heat stress and its effects in the lactating cows in the animal science area. This paper presents two studies about the production of scientific studies: the first refers to a mapping about the heat stress effect in the lactating cows kept in feedlot (free stall, compost barn and tie stall), and the second refers to an investigation about the heat stress effect in the behavior of the lactating cows kept in compost barn. These studies present innovation, not only by the comprehensiveness of the analyzed information about heat stress in the lactating cows kept in feedlot, but mainly taking into account chronological aspects, countries, authors, institutions, number of citations, number of publications, among others. The studies have allowed to derive interesting information for the scientific community in the animal science. Including: The United States and China were the countries with the highest number of publications. Heat stress and Behavior were the keywords that most prevailed. The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science, State University System of Florida and University of Florida were the institution that presented the highest number of studies. The authors Baumgard LH and Collier RJ had the greatest scientific production according to the purpose of our study. The terms temperature humidity index, behavior and heat stress are the tendencies in this line of research. Furthermore, we observed behavioral changes in the lactating cows kept in compost barn system in situation of heat stress, in which, there was an increase in the events of visiting to trough, number of steps and agonistic behavior, and also, decrease of rest time and from event to feeding.
