Resumo: Given the fundamental role that inductors play in electronic devices and systems, providing adequate functionality and performance to the circuits in which they are used, this work describes the study carried out to calculate the inductance of an alternating current (AC) inductor with an EI core of silicon steel, using the Finite Element Method, through the Finite Element Method Magnetics (FEMM) software. First, theoretical studies were carried out on the inductors, the finite element method and the software used in the simulations. Next, the pre-processing data that were used in the simulations were defined, followed by processing. Then, in the post-processing, the analysis and interpretation of the results obtained through the simulations were carried out. Finally, the necessary conclusions were presented, making it possible to verify the importance and effectiveness of the finite element method for calculating the parameters of an inductor.
