Considering that in Brazil, in contrast to other countries, 80% of the construction work is executed using the reinforced concrete structural system, the cost associated to reinforced concrete constructions has risen substantially. In this scenario, there is an urgent need for rationalizing materials and optimizing structural designs that enable the construction of more economical buildings. Therefore, this research aims to present to engineering students, designers, builders, architects and engineers the financial impact of structural designs in reinforced concrete through a case study and comparative technical analysis between three structural designs for a 4-story residential building, 15m long, 9m wide, 12m high and with a total structured area of 526m², located on a 12m x 30m plot. Among these structural designs, the first two contemplate columns oriented in a single direction and the third contemplates mixed columns in both directions. The three structural designs in reinforced concrete refer to the 4-story residential building presented in the Building Manual published by the Brazilian Center for Steel Construction (CBCA) and comply with the recommendations established by the Brazilian Standard for the Design of Concrete Structures - NBR 6118. Os insumos de construção civil no Brasil tiveram uma alta histórica de preços, principalmente considerando-se o do grande impacto econômico gerado pela pandemia do COVID-19, tendo o aço aumentos registrados superiores a 92% e o cimento aumentos superiores a 50%. Tendo em vista que no Brasil, diferentemente de outros países, 80% das obras são executadas pelo sistema estrutural de concreto armado, o custo associado a construções em concreto armado subiu substancialmente. Neste cenário, aumenta-se a necessidade da racionalização de materiais e otimização de projetos estruturais que viabilizem a construção de obras mais econômicas. Pretende-se, portanto, por meio desta pesquisa, apresentar a estudantes de engenharia, projetistas, construtores, arquitetos e engenheiros o impacto financeiro de concepções estruturais em concreto armado por meio de um estudo de caso e análise técnica comparativa entre três concepções estruturais para um edifício residencial de 4 pavimentos, com 15m de comprimento, 9m de largura, 12m de altura e 526m² de área total estruturada, situado em um terreno de 12mX30m. Dentre essas concepções estruturais, as duas primeiras contemplam pilares orientados em uma única direção e a terceira contempla pilares mistos, nas direções X e Y.
