Basic sanitation services are one of the key factors demonstrating the economic and social development of a country, playing a significant role in enhancing public health and quality of life. Monitoring the evolution of coverage in these services can contribute to identifying areas with the greatest need for investment. This study aims to analyze sanitation performance through thematic maps, specifically focusing on the urban water coverage index (IN023) and urban sewage coverage index (IN024), in the municipalities within the Guarapuava region served by the Paraná Sanitation Company (SANEPAR). Geographic Information System (GIS) tools were employed for this analysis, covering the years from 2012 to 2021. Data were sourced from the National Sanitation Information System (SNIS), and thematic maps were generated using the open-source geoprocessing software QGIS. Results indicate that, despite some advancements, challenges remain for achieving universal sanitation services in the studied region. It is concluded that spatializing indicators through GIS tools can aid in identifying priority areas for investments and planning actions to enhance sanitation services. |
