The focus of this dissertation is the Environmental Education, mainly based on the development of strategies to sensitize and reduce the consumption of students from a specific city school. The theoretical substantiation is based on the National Curricular Parameters - NCP's. The project was divided in two steps: The first one with 8th grade students and some solid waste from their weekly Science classes; in the second step, small groups of students were observed, out of school time, being voluntaries in a reutilization workshop. In the second one, with the small groups, the students less participative were able to highlight their comments about the solid waste. The differences between both groups were notable. Inside the classroom, the students whom were adding comments and exposing ideas were less shy. To proceed with these activities, some daily solid waste was used, such as: paper, glass, metal and plastic. One of the objectives was to guide these students to think and reflect about this waste and about the environment. The results obtained were the change of the way that how they think and their new position about the solid waste discard (once that now they are washing the garbage before discarding). After the workshops, the students also spread this ideal to their families, avoiding wastage. These students now are using some new words, like: awareness and solid waste. The most important part was learning the difference between reuse and recycle. As a result of this dissertation, one thematic notebook was created, focusing the material reduction, reusing and recycling, as a way to allow teachers to develop activities about the subject. |
