The objective of this research is the implementation of an information system, available at the bus stop, which will predict and tell the user the time that the buses from the public transportation system covering the city of Vitória-ES will arrive. In order to carry out this research, a bus line was selected and, within this line, a route which covers 23 bus stops was chosen. During the month of August, 2008, 252 trips were analyzed so as to predict the average time the buses would arrive at the bus stops. Having established the average trip time of the buses and their tracking records, differences between the time predicted by the information system and the actual time the buses arrived were below one minute over the three days of validation. The results show a perfect integration between the technologies of the information and the communication used in the prediction and the availability of the information to the users of the bus system. |
