A hierarchical control layer integration strategy is presented in this document. In particular, it is proposed to use the SSTO (Steady-State Target Optimization) layer, interfacing the RTO (Real-Time Optimization) layer and the MPC (Model-Predictive Control) layer. This control structure smooths economic tracking related setpoint shiftings whithout losing stability. The use of continuously identified simple linear models - of common use in industry - shared on both SSTO and MPC layers, allow the advantages obtained by the use of the structure to be available at whatever operating points, even at the ones which were not planned for, as well as paves the way to be used in industrial environment. The strategy is implemented in two different industrial process. Results obtained are promising and shows improvement in economic tracking and smoothening of setpoint shifting, altogether with stable operation of the process. |
