Resumo: The Information Technology sector has attracted the attention of medium and large companies for the outsourcing, however, few studies are focused on its applicability in the public sector. In the area of document printing, one of the major problems for public and private companies, which do not outsource this sector, is the poor quality of the equipment that has become obsolete over the years and the lack of control of the material that is being consumed. Outsourcing is an alternative of transferring part of the activities of a company to an outsourced enterprise, with the purpose of simplifying administrative activities, reducing costs and concentrating on the final activity. This research aims to investigate the economic viability and quality of the outsourcing service of printing in the UTFPR, Medianeira Campus, implemented on the second semester of 2017. In the studied university, the problem was the nonexistence of documents that prove the feasibility of the hiring service in the bidding process. The data were gotten through bibliographical research, academic articles, as well as documentary research on the outsourcing subject in bidding processes and contracts. As a result of the research, the economic viability and the quality of the system used within the scope of UTFPR Medianeira was verified, showing a solution that offered users quickness and reliability. Empirically, improvements were identified and proposed to help the institution to minimize the flaws and improve the service offered.
