With technological advances, human physiology study and ergonomic analysis of the work environment has been gaining notoriety, especially in jobs that require intense physical effort. Based on this context, this study aimed to evaluate the change in strength and electromyographic activity of the muscles (flexor digitorum superficialis, flexor carpi radialis, biceps brachii) of builders who perform brick laying, before and after the workday. The research method was characterized as exploratory based on the quantitative approach, developed through interviews, strength-testing, surface electromyographic evaluation and production measurement. Participants were chosen randomly in construction companies, and the builders needed to be working with masonry activities. The data collection was divided in four steps: data collection protocol application; strength measurement by dynamometer; performing surface electromyography; and daily production masonry labor measurement. Thirty-two workers were submitted to interviews and questionnaires, lumbar dynamometry, surface electromyographic evaluation and production measurement. The results have shown that the values of the lumbar dynamometry decreased after the workday and the surface electromyography allowed to elucidate the tendency to the myoelectric fatigue in the workers and the decrease of the muscular fibers activation frequency throughout the task, the greatest demand during the task was the right flexor of the right carpus and the right biceps brachii, although the left fingers superficial flexor has shown a tendency to fatigue. Thus, this study contributed to the thematic of using electromyographic analysis technology to search for an muscle fatigue indicative in builders. |
