Resumo: The efficient electricity production with low cost is a challenge that has great technological and commercial interests. The sunlight conversion into electrical energy can be done by photovoltaic cells, made up of layers, which two of them, through the photovoltaic effect, have opposite electric charges that can cause electric current. Silver is a good electrical conductor and if it be used as nanowires, the network formed allows the use of less material for the electric current conduction. Polyol method that uses ethylene glycol (EG), silver nitrate, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PV), salt, and important parameters as molar ratio between PVP and silver nitrate, injection rate of silver nitrate dissolved in EG was the method for silver nanowires obtaining. The variation of theses parameters also resulted in the production of other silver particles. The silver nanowires morphological characterization was done by reflected light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and profilometer, while electrical characterization was done by the four-probe method. UV-vis curve was also obtained by spectroscopy for the syntheses. The results showed that silver nanowires are more conductive than other silver particles, and considering that it can form a semitransparent layer, it’s use in photovoltaic devices is favorable.
