Resumo: The technological development has increased competition among companies. Alternatives that ensure the quality of the Relevant information in the Product Development Process PDP tend to increase efficiency and competitive advantage. Lack of data, integration between systems, and non-use of collaborative practices can make PDP more difficult. Relevant information to product development is directly associated with three-dimensional (3D) geometric models, devised in CAD tools. In these models, information required for manufacturing called Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI), It can be interpreted by computationally in later stages of preparation for the production. This research aims the development of a guideline’s set to allowing designers to ensure the quality of information in PDP provided through PMI annotations. A methodological approach, called Design Science Research (DSR), was adopted in the development of an artifact to reach the proposed objective. In the solution development phase has produced a flow chart with eight steps. The results are seven guidelines and one tool to assist man-machine interaction. For the evaluation, efficiency, generality, ease of use and operability criteria were used. The company opting for the proposed a guideline’s set may avoid design flaws and manufacturing waste. In this way, it shall increase productivity, efficiency throughout the PDP, reduce costs and increase quality in the final product.
