It begins with a historical review of Math and enphatizes de work of french group Bourbaki. We intends show that Mathematics and in mathematics teaching are motivated by inherent factors of society. Next, we explored the influence of Bourbaki group influenced the greatest mathematics teaching reform movement. We observed the processes and the consequences, such as changes in the contents of school curriculum, in the methods and learning objectives and the necessity of an adequated training to mathematic teachers. At end, we analized arguments from critics and enthusiasts of this educational reform movemente and examined the impact of this movement on brazilian text books for basic and secundary education. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) Neste trabalho, estuda-se a origem e o desenvolvimento do chamado Movimento Matemática Moderna que teve seu ápice entre os anos de 1960 a 1990. O trabalho inicia com uma revisão histórica da matemática de modo geral, mas com ênfase no grupo Francês Bourbaki, com a finalidade de mostrar que as transformações na matemática e na sua filosofia de ensino são motivadas por questões inerentes à sociedade nas quais os seus atores estão inseridos. A seguir, passa-se a avaliar como o trabalho do grupo Bourbaki influenciou o maior movimento de reformulação de ensino de matemática visto na história. Neste sentido, observam-se os processos que desencadearam no movimento e as consequências provocadas, tais como mudanças nos conteúdos dos currículos escolares, nos métodos e objetivos de ensino e que culminou primordialmente na necessidade de formação adequada dos professores de matemática.
